Growing up in pictures...

Why choose a family photoshoot?

As a compulsive phone photographer myself, when I decided to follow my heart into family photography this was a question I grappled with for a long time. Why choose to pay someone to take family photos, when the moments you want to capture are 'real life'?

This is why...

The decision to pay for a photoshoot and make it into an occasion is a statement to your children about what you value. Them obviously (!!), but it goes deeper than valuing them and remembering them being small, you can do that just with your phone.

A classic photoshoot - one where you get dressed in coordinated outfits and look tidy and try to persuade them to smile at the camera - is a statement to them that this 'tidy coordinated life' is something to aspire to...

My kind of family shoot however, a windswept, mucky, fun photoshoot, is a statement that says: "I love you when you are messy, I love you when you are having fun, I love you when we are exploring together, I love you to try new skills even when they are tricky, I love you imperfect and learning, I love you growing, I love you come what may". This is the statement that your investment in a photoshoot with me will make to your kids.

And, consciously or subconsciously, they will absorb this message as they grow up, seeing your investment in these glorious moments of growth and connection on your walls. Your own family art gallery, featuring them. Something you value so much that you invested in it.

Whether it's gardening, baking, crabbing, building a fort, climbing a hill for a big view, walking the coast path with a backpack full of snacks or learning to put up a tent. Let's pick a challenge and go for it. It will be fun, and I am with you all the way!!

"The whole shoot felt natural and fun, like hanging out with a friend who just happens to have a camera. Our gallery was everything we hoped for and more."

Where I work...

I live in Andover, Hampshire. I have family in North Cornwall and I also have a van (which seems to take me to Cornwall very often!!)

I work outdoors and or in your home - the places you feel most relaxed and at peace.

The beach is the best!! I am very happy to come down to the Dorset coast for your photoshoot if you are Hampshire based, and my diary will be open for several weekends a year in North Cornwall - let me know if you want to be on the waitlist for these special, limited offer, weekends.

A photoshoot with me is a photoshoot for families who value growth over perfection and want to pass on this core value to their little people
