A little bit about my journey to here

Hey, I'm Emily
It's been a bit of a zig zag path to here! I grew up in Hampshire. After a Biology degree at Oxford University and lots of rowing I was still undecided about my path. I made a pivot and did a second degree at Southampton Uni, becoming a Physiotherapist... 2 gorgeous girls and an NHS career later, a job close to home gave me back the gift of time and I started pursuing a dream. I bought a camera and Emily Scotney Photography was born in 2022. So here I am today, on a beautiful creative journey and loving it!
Just some of the things that bring me joy 🤍
- My two wonderful daughters
- Cris - my best friend and the man who keeps me sane!!
- Long walks on the North Cornwall cliffs & beaches...
- The beautiful Camel Estuary in the glassy morning calm
- Books! I don't have enough time to read nowadays but I adore books - I truly think this may be where my passion for the albums I offer comes from - all the magic inside those pages!
- Camping! Van or tent - it's something about the early morning outside...
- Our VW Transporter conversion - Polly - the realisation of a dream
- Being in the sea, especially the surf . I also love water skiing and wakeboarding... and failing that a cold water morning dip in the back garden will do!!
- The first sip of my morning coffee out of my massive Cornishware Mothers Day mug
- Delivering an album or prints - it's like handing over a package of love - the best feeling!!
- Marnie - our loopy chocolate cocker spaniel, and her shrimpy excited 'so pleased to see you' dance - if you know you know - it's a cocker thing!
- Oh and chocolate - any will do but currently - Tony's Chocolony Dark Almond Seasalt (the green one) - I LOVE it!!

My Photography Style...
What words describe this best?
Storytelling
Lifestyle
Documentary
Relaxed
Friendly
Natural
Unposed
I love to catch natural moments with the camera - kisses, cuddles, running, dancing, playing, laughing. If there is emotion in the moment then I'm in my happy place.
My edits tend to stick to true colour and warmth with a big focus on bringing out the light and focusing in on the emotion. I love to get creative in the right shoot too and will often add a few more artistic shots to your gallery - if you love a creative image do tell me!
